The Primum Non Nocere Foundation, INC (the Foundation) has been formed for the purpose of assisting pre-hospital care providers during times of need and despair, especially during times of injury or ill-health.
Pre Hospital Care providers / Emergency Medical Service workers have long been considered by many as the least supported and recognized of the countries civil servants. It doesn't matter if your a volunteer, work for a private company, a private hospital or a city approved agency when there is a medical emergency we are expected to be there without question or hesitation. What happens when the pre hospital care provider themselves become the victim or patient? Many are left to fend for themselves trying to hold their family together, keep the roof above their heads and food on the table with little support from organizations and charities. The mission of Primum Non Nocere Foundation, Inc. is to try an help those pre hospital care providers get through their crisis and back on their feet.

Primum Non Nocere Foundation - September Update
September 10, 2016
As we prepare to exit Summer and enter in to our favorite season …The Fall and my personal favorite holiday Halloween :)
Before we get in to our foundations upcoming Halloween Costume Party I want to give everyone an update on what we have been up to over the summer months.
We presented our first Jim & Judy Alexander EMS Memorial Scholarship of $300 to recent NYS EMT graduate Nicholas Portera and have approved our next one to be presented to recent EMT graduate Kaitlin Brunetti this October. We are planning to give at least one more this year at our December Holiday gathering
We were able to further assisted 2 Emergency Medical Technician that are still out of work due to injuries with a $100 ShopRite Gift Card. M.G from NJ and Larry S. from NY are both mending well, getting stronger and we hope they will be clear to work soon.
We were able to assist another NY EMT Sandra who injured her back working a couple of years ago and is now going through extensive surgeries and continuous complications on her back. We were able to shop and deliver a good amount of groceries for her to help make the recovery a little less stressful.
We will be sending a $100 Speedway Gas card & $50 Wall Mart Gift card to the family of Michigan Paramedic Tim Hoffman. I was notified from a fellow colleague that Tim was involved in a massive Ambulance accident while responding to a call and was in a hospital Intensive Care Unit leaving his wife and young daughter to hold everything together. We contacted K.Molenda form American Medical Response who has been trying to collect monies and items to help Tim and his family as they travel back and for the to the hospital and soon an extensive stay at a rehab facility. She suggested the gas card and wall Mart gift card to help the family with the extensive daily travel and need of basic essential items. Thoughts and Prayers are with you and your family as you fight through this and get back on your feet again, we hope this little bit helps.
We are working on assisting another NYC EMT S.G that injured his back last year while lifting a patient and is now healing from extensive back surgery and an uphill fight with workers compensation. We will be helping him and his wife soon with a “Fill The Fridge” food shopping as well as taking in to account his religious /kosher needs. He is getting stronger everyday but still has a long road ahead and we hope to help him get back on his feet
On August 25th we had a special limited seating Steak & Rare Whiskey Tasting fundraiser at Bootleg Mannings on Staten Island pics attached ). It was an incredible night with owner Roy , ED the mastermind Mixologist / Bartender and Norm the awesome Kitchen director ( made incredible 14 ounce steaks in a small bar kitchen..awesome ) setting up a fabulous atmosphere and tasting some of the best whisky’s and drinks you can find. We the help of everyone who attended and Tom Beyar & Beyars market for donating the appetizer platter, were able to raise just about $350 for the foundation after expenses. We are already planning another one for the end of December ( possibly Thursday December 29th ) as our Holiday / New Year Gathering. The price will be $85 a person which includes dinner, rare whisky/burbon tasting and a specialty drink, If your interested please let me know only 15 seats available per event.
Received permission from artist Daniel Sundahl ( http://www.dansunphotos.com ) to utilize a couple of his incredible paintings in our new Tri Fold brochure ( created and printed by Holly Lane ) which will be available for the Pulse Check Conference in Albany…Thank you Daniel
Two of our friends who lost loved ones this past month, NY EMT D.Lang lost his father and NY EMT Matt R. lost his daughter to sudden illnesses. You and your families are in our thoughts during these rough times.
Primum Non Nocere Foundation members Ted Rawley & myself will be representing the foundation at the NYS Volunteer Ambulance & Rescue Association Conference Pulse Check 2016 (http://www.nysvara.org/pulseCheck/index.html). Vendor space has been provided and sponsored by Linda Reissman and it has been said we will be receiving a certificate of recognition at the evening gala as well. This will be the first time Primum Non Nocere Foundation will have public exposure of this type and receiving recognition of any type is truly an honor. We don’t do it for the “pats on the back”, but they can help us become more established and in turn help even more people some humbly accept. If anyone is going and wants to join us manning the booth please let me know.
On Saturday October 22nd we are having our 2nd Annual Halloween Costume Party & Fundraiser ( flier attached with party and sponsor information ) at Saint Sylvester’s Church hall and the home of Lifestyles for the Disabled. Looking back on this email and seeing what we have done and have upcoming for the last quarter of this year I would say we are doing pretty good for a home grown charitable foundation that started on January 6th 2015.
As we approach the date of September 11th 2016 please remember those first responders and innocents lost on that day 15 years ago. For those of us that may still be feeling the physical and mental pains of that day, you have all of us at Primum Non Nocere Foundation supporting you and saying thank you. If you are ever find yourself in a position that you need our physical assistance or just need to talk to a friend please contact me directly and we will be there for you, this is a promise.
Thank you to everyone who has helped and supported us to this point as we strive to help and assist the many Prehospital Care Providers who have given everything to care for others, but now are the ones who are in need themselves.
